‘The certainty is that Lawrence Casserley can be more innovative and creative than many of the ringleaders of the young generation of laptoppers’ (Rui Eduardo Paes)

Electronic innovator Lawrence Casserley concludes his 75th birthday celebrations with a programme joining four of his frequent collaborators into two new trios, which promise an exciting conclusion to the series.

Alison Blunt is a violinist who has performed throughout the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and the USA with various creative music projects including Apocryphal Theatre Company, Apartment House, Barcode Quartet, BARREL and Berlin Improvisers Orchestra, while Hannah Marshall is a cellist who is continuing to extract, invent, and exercise as many sounds and emotional qualities from her instrument as she can. She has been a regular member of Alexander Hawkins’ Ensembles and BARREL, and also plays with a wide range of improvisors, including Terry Day, Tim Hodgkinson, Roger Turner, Paul May, Kay Grant, and the London Improvisers Orchestra. The two have performed many times together, and sometimes with Lawrence, but this is their first appearance as a trio.

Viv Corringham is a British vocalist, sound artist and composer, currently based in New York, who has worked internationally since the early 1980s. Her work includes performances, installations, radio works and soundwalks. She is interested in exploring people’s special relationship with familiar places and how that links to personal history and memory. She has worked extensively with Lawrence in Colourscape and elsewhere, and they have a duo CD in preparation. Japanese pianist Yoko Miura has performed with many leading musicians in Japan and Europe, such as Teppo Hauta-Aho, Steve Bersford, John Russell and Charlie Collins. She has worked with Lawrence several times, particularly in trio with Jean-Michel Van Schouwburg. This will be their first appearance as a trio.
