Ken Ikeda (synthesizer)

Ken Ikeda  is a composer and performer, born in Tokyo. He creates unique electric improvisation by a delicate combination of sine wave. After studying at Berklee College of Music, he has exhibited sound art and visual installations around the world. He has released five solo albums and collaborated albums with David Toop, Eddie Prevost, John Russell, Toshimaru Nakamura, Tetuzi Akiyama,Chihei Hatakeyama and many other improvising musicians; Also he has collaborated with, amongst others, visual artist Mariko Mori, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Tadanori Yokoo, Darren Almond; and composed and recorded for film maker David Lynch.  His recent CD collaboration with Eddie Prévost, entitled ‘The whole moon rests in a dew drop on the grass’.

Phil Durrant (modular synthesizer)

Born near London in 1957, Phil Durrant is an improviser/composer/sound artist who has devised his own virtual performance instruments using Reaktor. As a violinist (and member of the Butcher/Russell/Durrant trio), he was one of the key exponents of the “group voice approach” style of improvised music. In the late 90s, his trio with Radu Malfatti and Thomas Lehn represented a shift to a more “reductionist” approach.
Durrant’s exploration in the use of live electronics to expand the timbre of the violin, evolved into the creation and building of self-made virtual instruments. His live sampling/treatments duo with John Butcher and his work MIMEO, saw Durrant move from the use of hardware to the use of software in live situations. Recently he has returned to hardware and is currently using modular synth and amplified objects. Durrant also performs regularly with the acoustic/electronic group Trio Sowari (with Bertrand Denzler and Burkhard Beins) and Mark Wastell’s The Seen.

NO Moore (Moog guitar)

Moore‘s guitar playing combines elements syphoned off from the short history of the electric guitar, from the Blues to Free Improvisation, and combines them with a love of early electronic experimentalism, synthesis, and musique concrète.  The result is an often surprising sound world for electric guitar, encompassing both a loose respect for its traditions and a commitment to what follows. With Eddie Prévost and John Edwards, he can be heard on the recent Matchless Recordings release ‘Darkened, yet shone’.

Eddie Prévost (Percussion)

Eddie Prévost plays with immense fire, grace and invention. Founder of the essential AMM, collaborator of the greatest improvisers internationally, since the 60’s he has kept a continuous contact with the scene and always manages to invent anew his contribution to “meta-music”.

“Prévost’s free drumming flows superbly making use of his formidable technique. It’s as though there has never been an Elvin Jones or Max Roach.” – Melody Maker

“Relentlessly innovative yet full of swing and fire.” – Morning Star
