Saturday 12 November 2016 2.30pm – Nick Costley-White + Mark Lewandowski

Guitarist Nick Costley-White explores some of the lesser known compositions of the master songwriters Jerome Kern and Cole Porter. Using harmonically rich arrangements and contemporary rhythmic forms the trio create a dynamic and spontaneous sound. Nick is joined here by two long time collaborators Conor Chaplin on double bass and Dave Ingamells on drums.

Mark Lewandowski is one of the most talented and exciting double bass players in the and UK has built a formidable reputation as a sideman. Here we get to hear him lead this cross generational band featuring some legends of the UK scene; Liam Noble on piano, Tom Challenger on tenor saxophone and US born Gene Calderazzo on drums. Mark’s stripped down but evocative compositions allow for fiery interplays on the bandstand. He typically draws inspiration from the most unlikely places, people and events in his life, and we trust that a busier-than-ever 2016 will give way to new material written especially for this exciting EFG London Jazz Festival appearance.
