Rarescale invites you to an exploration of the sound worlds of low woodwinds (alto/bass flute and bass clarinet) and electronics. Each of the featured composers approaches the instruments in a different way, demonstrating the rich versatility of these deep-voiced instruments. The concert includes the first performance of Michael Oliva’s Passacaglia, drawing on Sarah Watts’ and Carla Rees’ research on multiphonics on their respective instruments.
