This evening presents two distinct approaches toward an improvsed techno where instruments, technologies and phenomena are combined to iluminate unfolding cycles of rhythm and thought – ТЕПЛОТА with futurised double bass as ‘drums and bass’ in the cloud of the ‘feedback synthesizer’ + RIVASCHMID amplifying and reamplifying wind instruments to lay a deep, fundamental pulse – both with techno (manifold senses) as an anchor.

Programme:
RIVASCHMID (Silvan Schmid + Alex Riva)
ТЕПЛОТА (Grundik Kasyansky + Tom Wheatley)

Grundik Kasyansky

Grundik Kasyansky is a Moscow born electronic musician, based in London. He was a founding member of Israeli experimental electronic duo Grundik and Slava. He collaborated with many musicians, dancers, painters and filmmakers, and released records through Matchless, Another Timbre, Takuroku, Creative Sources, Cathnor, Earsay, Fact, Auris Media, Stateart, Dromos and Linear Obsessional. He also plays in bands Теплота, Staraya Derevnya and Llull Machines. Before concentrating on electronic music he wrote poetry and it deeply influenced his current practice. Alex Riva

On different recorders Alex Riva has developed his own distinctive way of playing. His approach includes highly fragmented collages as well as long and almost monchrome sound-surfaces. Always on the research of the ‘hidden sounds’ of his instruments, AR uses extended techniques, circular breathing, multiphonics and occasionally an interspersed voice. Important influences for AR are experimental music, free jazz, noise and folk music from all over the world. As an improviser and a conceptual musician AR is an autodidact. He’s active in the European free-impro and underground scene. In 2019, Popkredit Zürich enabled him a residency of 3 months in India (Varanasi), where he recorded his playing mainly outdoors with local background noises. His album Solos and More was recorded in studio 304 in Bangalore. With the unpredictable trio ZGB (Dario Fariello on saxophones, Mikael Szafirowski on e-guitar) AR played more than 60 international concerts since 2015. The duo Irlumb with Dominik Blum (analog synthesizers) became a trio with March Kilchenmann on contrabassoon in 2017: Kilirlumb. The free-noise-duo Riva/Müller (recorders and e-bass) has been performing and touring since 2010. Alex Riva is also collaborating with dancers, visual artists and filmmakers.
