Artists bio

Sunroof

Daniel Miller and Gareth Jones recently released their debut album as Sunroof after four decades of collaborative work. The improvised modular pieces on Electronic Music Improvisations Volume 1 were recorded as live, a suite of evolving, restless pieces, each one containing layers of pulsing, atmospheric sounds, vibrant sequences and overlapping, occasionally discordant textures. The pair began working together in 1983, improvising in the studio during downtime from the recording of Depeche Mode’s Construction Time Again, and in their work as Sunroof you can hear the almost symbiotic connection that they share, alongside new sonic pathways opening up.

MICROCORPS

MICROCORPS is the new project by artist and musician Alexander Tucker (Grumbling Fur, NONEXISTENT, Imbogodom) exploring electronics, cello and voice. Tucker’s ever-evolving soundworld continues to unfold with harsh realms centred around processed electronic systems, strings and vocal manipulations. MICROCORPS employs altered voices, sound synthesis and atomised beat constructions. MICROCORPS tracks are born from a balance between composition and improvisation within set parameters. At each stage audio is heavily processed and then reconfigured, setting up systems that are non-repeatable, where decisions can be premeditated and intuitive but never the same with each performance.
