This edition features 8+ artists in a hybrid of audiovisual live-sets & immersive projections; drone-temporal drift as an anthropological proto-documentary journeying through Essaouira (Morocco), plunderphonics-driven primal explorations into birth as a rite of fragile essentiality, the politics of mineral extraction, audible discourse on the perversion of religious ideals, chemical reactions mirroring ecological brutality, acoustic ecology, blinding sun, and ruins embedded in history, performed in the 16.4 ambisonics system.

Ab Uno

Les Gens de Mogador Between sonic critique and meditative self-sabotage, AB UNO’s drone-temporal drift is to be read as an anthropological study: looking for answers in the past we can find the future, returning to being a ‘plural one’ as the primal feeling of the cosmos indicates, opening a door to a deeper state of consciousness. Born in Berlin in 2016, Eugenio Petrarca and Roberto Di Ciaccio’s project fuses experimental music made of drifting analogue oscillations to modular synthesiser resonances, with exotic field-recordings and organic visual progressions that build immersive minimalist atmospheres. Les Gens de Mogador, released in July 2022 by Dornwald Records, the journey continues to Essaouira, on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, continuing the path of a sound anthropology and enriched with visual materials, in the collaboration with the Waxaw Ethno Roots collective that captured the album’s proto-documentary dimension. Les Gens de Mogador marks a further evolution of the project: among the open-air markets amidst phoenix ceramics, the Jewish mellah quarter and the gnawa rituals in the story of sub-Saharan black slavery, the album is a physical reconstruction of ancient Essaouira, the result of two weeks in close contact with a land that tells of wind, blinding sun and ruins embedded in history.

IOM

IOM is the solo project from Iker Ormazabal. He will be presenting Happiness and Sacrifice. This AV piece uses sample videos from religious topics which are used to question the need for giving up personal gratification to obtain happiness. It also serves as a critique to the catholic church and revisits the perversion of religious ideals through some historic moments.

Gyorgy Ono (DJ)

Gyorgy Ono is a Georgian artist whose work explores fragmentation through a spice of occult exotica from spoken word, hissy cassette experiments, and slithery snake rhythms amongst blissfully delinquent ambiances of borrowed sounds. A timelessness arises from this sonic archaeology, whether in his audiovisual Netil radio ‘Icarus Blue’ residency, curation of the diverse and genre-spanning Creatures rave, or all the rogue frequencies he traces from thin air.

Charly Blackburn

Charly Blackburn is a ceramicist and material explorer seeking to reconnect people with the politics of mineral extraction. She does this by exploring themes of ecology, overconsumption and the pressures of our technological demands on the earth and its inhabitants. Different temporalities in both material and social processes are driving forces in Blackburn’s ceramic art which ranges from the chaotic unpredictable forms of volcanic rock formations to exploratory drill core samples and the industrial precision of crystalline silicon wafer engineering. By firing clay alongside other raw materials found within the Earth’s surface, Blackburn aims to discover new behaviours and chemical reactions which mirror the societal and ecological brutality of present and future mining practices.

Cerpintxt & Ruben

An audiovisual collaborative performance focused in darkjazz with hyperromantic undertones. Using wind instruments, piano, musical saw, vocals, tape and reel-to-reel, found objects and vessels, and modular synthesis, the duo recontextualize jazz in a post-Lynchian limbo. Alongside it, the flickering scenarios and found sounds of Musique Concrète, and inert cyclicality of hauntological loops project the residue of all that which could have been, as prosthetic sentiments.
Cerpintxt is an electroacoustic and darkjazz post-ape progress report from the cosmic madhouse, through the medium of voice, auto-destruction, wind-guided experiments in protoconversation. Her work is concerned with generating an invented language of a particular strain of softness through phonetic entropy and augmented instrumentation. The textural counterparts of her sound rely on broken turntablism, prepared zither, & seismic microphones, processed through tape recorders. Ruben Sonnoli is an Italian key and synth performer, trained as a jazz pianist but fascinated by electronic music, he combines harmonic and melodic material with electronic processing and samples.

Kristina May

Kristina May is a London-based musician from Transnistria. On one side, Kristina explores deep meditative sounds, trans-inducing Sonics, sequences with subtle changes of rhythms and patterns. On the other side, they are concerned of contrasts in music, cacophony and harmony, noise and silence. They seek colour in music and from there comes the journey they take you to. From their more experimental excursions to the relentless obscure beats, one will always find something exotic and interesting to hold on to. For Boundary Condition , Kristina will be playing a DJ set.
