Internationally renowned guitarist Henry Kaiser features in a double guitar improvising quartet, in a very rare UK performance.  Kaiser has been active in experimental music since the 1970s, being a key figure in the development of the Downtown New York scene alongside John Zorn, Ikue Mori, Fred Frith, Bill Laswell, George Lewis, etc.  Over the years he has played with a who’s who of interesting musical pioneers, developing a particularly significant relationship with trumpeter Ishmael Wadada Leo Smith.  He has also composed for film, perhaps most notably on a number of projects for acclaimed director Werner Herzog.  In this performance, Kaiser will meet drummer extraordinaire Eddie Prévost, who has been active on the UK scene since the 1960s.  Rounding out the group will be Olie Brice, whose well-deserved reputation on double bass continues to grow apace; and guitarist N.O Moore.

Kaiser and Moore are both interested in extending the sound and potential of the electric guitar, utilising analog and digital technologies to bring out the electronic possibilities of the instrument.  In their respective hands, the instrument becomes an interface for accessing an electro-sonic network of wave oscillation, sonopheme entanglement, and aesthetic appeal.  The evening will be a night of improvised music as is seldom heard on the vibrant London circuit, and should not be missed.  Fire in the whole.
