Robin The Fog presents an evening of eye-popping, ear-bending delights from some of London’s finest pushers of the audio-visual envelope. Features tape loops, zoetropes, multi-armed turntablism and possibly at least one scary mask.
Steve Davis (DJ)
DJ Food (DJ)
Marking 10 years since first coming to prominence with hugely-acclaimed 2012 LP The Ghosts Of Bush, Howlround is a quintet (four slightly battered machines machines, one slightly battered operator) that creates recordings and performances entirely from manipulating natural acoustic sounds on vintage reel-to-reel tape machines, with all electronic effects or artificial reverb strictly forbidden. In an age where one can create all manner of electronic music with a simple swipe of a mouse, Howlround prove not only how much fun is to be had in making things complicated again, but conversely just how little effort is sometimes needed to create a genuinely uncanny and beguiling soundworld: the rough underbelly of our pristine, Pro-Tools universe.
Strictly Kev has been involved with the multi-producer DJ Food project on Ninja Tune for over 25 years. He’s DJed the world over with Food originators Coldcut and PC as well as mixing hundreds of hours of audio for compilations (including Coldcut’s Journey’s By DJ mix) and radio using his 35+ years of experience and vast record collection.
The opto-musical agglomerate is the pairing of British musician Dan Hayhurst (media devices, electronic instruments) and New Zealand animator Reuben Sutherland (video zoetrope turntable, animation, optix).
Steve Davis was the most successful professional snooker player during the 1980’s and won 6 world championships. After retiring in 2016 from the sport, he focused on his other lifelong passion, music. Co-presenting radio shows on PhoenixFM and NTS Radio with Kavus Torabi, saw him becoming ever more interested in the electronic genre. In 2018, after discovering the Modular Synthesizer a few years earlier, he joined forces with Kavus and Michael York to form The Utopia Strong. While attending the ever-expanding modular synth events around the country, he has teamed up with Steve O’Malley (a regular performer at Control Voltage in Southend) to embrace the challenge of improvised electronic music.
Franziska Lantz is a Swiss-born, London-based artist and musician who runs the label Global Warming Records. Working with a minimal setup of drum machines, synths and vocals expect the same punishing doom-laden Techno as you’ll find on her three solo LPs to date.
