SYKEM presents “An Eternity of Movement” featuring performance artist Nan Zhu

AEOM is SYKEM’s ongoing experimental audio visual performance and stage design project. In this edition Nan Zhu will perform using a quintet of floor based, pressure sensitive sound portals, designed by SYKEM. Each portal picks up the signal from any vibration on its surface, this signal is then manipulated using various FX processors and played back in real time. Nan Zhu will be presenting a poetic destruction, forcing the audience to be involved in the most present form, bringing them a moment of malaise. Destruction process to the body and props included. Alongside this SYKEM will be providing dark ambience, psychoactive noise and hyperdistorted vocals.

WARBLOOD

WARBLOOD’s sound performance blends deconstructed club music with lyrical storytelling to reimagine queer politics. Holly Warcup’s spoken word explores non-binary gender, fetish and eroticism. They draw upon deeply personal experiences to create fantasy realms that both project the flawed ways in which gender operates in the real world and imagine future utopias. Holly’s vocals are backed by music produced by SYKEM, chewing up UK club with drum machines and guitar pedals. The result is a sound that echos real world queer spaces and transcends into new worlds.
