3 rounds of performative workshops presented as part of IKLECTIK’s “PERFORMANCE ART CURATOR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME”. Experience a reality of ecological fluidity. A relational place of entangled ownership. A continuing, recurring, and expanding movement of return to the womb.

When mothering is a technology, we co-create a collective knowledge that is nurturing, accessible, and “no other than”.

A performative workshop and cyclic journey in acts featuring :

  • HYDRA cosmic womb methodologies
  • Donatella Caggiano belonging design practices
  • Ghostlore of Britain light and sound rituals
  • Tom Wheatley serous music

8 archetypal self-portraits initiate a conversational freefall made of mythological storytelling, personal narratives, research readings, journal logs and stream of consciousness to bring the audience on a personal and collective journey of fluid transition of return from loss to integration to mothering.  Soundwaves, visuals, spatial membranes, and questions are used as navigational tools to nurture the audience into personal and collective ritualistic practices: let go – accept – preserve – let go.

HYDRA (Anna Gloria Flores) and Donatella Caggiano’s conjoint research aims at overcoming the systemic concept of power as ownership that exploits duality to violate, exclude and neglect non-conforming bodies – bodies intended as the way we experience physical reality beyond the body as a social construct. Both an experiential framework and a phygital gear, HYDRA Cosmic Womb is where collective growth and self-repair are possible. The body of work provides ritualistic tools of non-verbal communication integrating somatic acts of transpersonal intimacy with nurturing and accessible technology for the elaboration of personal and systematic trauma, addressing the concepts of addiction and compulsion, consumption, and desire.

INTRODUCTION: “We are brilliant at survival, but brutal at it. We tend to slip out of togetherness the way we slip out of the womb, bloody and messy and surprised to be alone. And clever — able to learn with our whole bodies the way of this world.” – Adrienne Maree Brown

METHODS: Both an experiential framework and a phygital gear, HYDRA Cosmic Womb is where collective growth and self-repair are possible. The body of work provides ritualistic tools of non-verbal communication integrating somatic acts of transpersonal intimacy with nurturing and accessible technology for the elaboration of personal and systematic trauma, addressing the concepts of addiction and compulsion, consumption, and desire.

Facilitator, human-centric strategy designer, podcaster, and writer – Donatella Caggiano works with brands, organizations, and communities to create and support relational spaces of belonging while in transition through creativity for non-binary change. Her research focuses on personal migration, belonging, and the design of the meaning of home in a transient state for both individuals and collectives in business, territory, and culture fields.

HYDRA cosmic womb methodologies and Donatella Caggiano’s belonging design practices intertwine with Ghostlore of Britain’s light and sound rituals and Tom Wheatley’s uncomfortably cushioning, pale-yellow & proteinous‘ serous music’ interventions. Spatial design translucent membranes function as organic interfaces connecting the separate elements of the collective body via breathing and touch.

RESULTS:  A technology of care is imagined as a way to integrate duality and attain unity to understand reality as perpetually in transition. It is rooted in the archetype of the mother elevated from the biological to the cosmological.

CONCLUSION: Experience a reality of ecological fluidity. A relational place of entangled ownership. A continuing, recurring, and expanding movement of return to the womb.

HYDRA

“Hydra is small, simple, and possesses many heads. It undergoes morphallaxis when injured or severed and it appears not to age or die.”
HYDRA (Anna Gloria Flores) is a London based transmedia artist, theorist and practitioner.
Hydra theories and future mythology tales are based on wet knowledge (experience and intuition) successively backed up by dry knowledge (education and academic research) in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, sociology, posthuman philosophy, plants intelligence, eastern spirituality, esoterism and alchemy.
Both an experiential framework and a phygital gear, HYDRA Cosmic Womb is where collective growth and self-repair are possible. The body of work provides ritualistic tools of non-verbal communication for the elaboration of personal and systematic trauma, addressing  the concepts of addiction and compulsion, consumption and desire.
Comprising meditative AR, holistic healing, immersive performance, spatial design and wearable artifacts, HYDRA phygital programme revolves around the possibility of collective growth within a higher consciousness system in relation to physical reality, through the spectrum of bodily experiences and nurturing technology.
HYDRA has recently relocated to Puglia –  their native land – with ancestral motives.
A shedding process of “Phygital Transumanza ”. Based on a philosophical meditation on the nomadic tradition of pastoral transhumance (from latin trans ‘across’ and humus ‘ground’),  the ongoing research and newly introduced methodology unfolds within the seeding of decentralised regenerative culture, acknowledging hidden and neglected resources within the self and integrating lost or rejected personal mythologies.
HYDRA Phygital Programme future developments are the result of this applied methodology.

DONATELLA CAGGIANO

After leaving her homeland in the south at the age of seven; a twelve years career as a globe trotting communication executive in Europe and the United States and heterosexuality, Donatella Caggiano has now returned “home” to Italy, from where she works internationally as a facilitator, human-centric strategy designer, podcaster and writer to support brands, organisations and communities design relational spaces of belonging while in transition through creativity for non-binary change.
Her research focuses on personal migration, belonging and the design of the meaning of home in a transient state for both individuals and collectives in business, territory and culture fields.
She is the creator and host of the bilingual podcast The Design of Return, where “return” as an archetypal lens is challenged to understand world building for people who live in between different countries, languages, cultures and identities. She is the author of the newsletter The Atlas, where she chronicles and dispatches from inner and outer places in-between.
Among her work, a legacy exhibition for a heritage Italian brand at Palais de Tokyo, Triennale di Milano and Whitney Museum in New York, an artist residency in Japan with the project Fusion in support of eighteen American artists, and community projects of re-homing for underserved communities in the Italian South.

GHOSTLORE OF BRITAIN

Ghostlore of Britain (Sarah Hartnett & Kieron Livingstone) perform musical vibrations to break though the veiling power of Maya and self perpetuating control mechanisms, utilising subtle esoteric technology and words of worship to reveal the divine spark in all.
‘The Changing of the Guard’ is the name of their journey through southern England which generated their first body of work consisting of music, film and live performances. These investigations and experiences across the psychic and embodied landscape revealed a palimpsestuous tension unearthed in slag heaps, disused tin mines and graveyards, which drew attention to their own personal histories and family narratives, activating reflections on the compulsion to repeat the past. Residual violence in an age of new ghosts, new fears and new hope must be recognised and excavated with discriminative discernment.
