SONIC WATERLOO is a festival that presents activities around the subject of sound. It connects sound art and location and reinforces cultural networks in the Waterloo area.

The festival will provide a unique experience through its use of materials and ideas not explored in any previous events. The festival will spread its activities into the public domain and other surrounding spaces.

Through a series of participatory outdoor and indoor events it will provide exclusive learning opportunities, facilitating new ideas about sound arts and other disciplines.

With a new approach to this kind of events, the festival will involve artists in a series of talks, workshops, installations and performances in various locations. In response to the Waterloo surrounding they will present site specific works in new contexts. A strong curatorial approach will reach multiple audiences of all ages.

Highlights of the festival include: an exhibition with new commissioned artworks, sound art installations and performances. A series of talks with specialists around the subject of sound and politics, technology, environment and psychology and a field recording workshop and sound exploration workshop with kids.

Sonic Waterloo is an unprecedented artistic project that will connect artists, students and the community. Produced by Iklectik and Unpredictable Series. With the collaboration of Old Paradise YardWe are Waterloo, Morley College , CRiSAP UAL and Resonance FM. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
