The Listening Body is a collaborative project by sound artists and musicians Pascal Savy and Flying Disks (Merkaba Macabre, Hems and Christian Duka). The project stems from their respective practices of performing experimental music in traditional and less traditional concert venues, seeking to eradicate the divide between stage and audience.

Sound will be diffused throughout the room via a 16.4 speaker system spread across the walls and ceiling. In doing so they invite the audience to use their entire bodies as resonant sensors and reclaim the here and now of the performance as a space for direct and felt experience.

Pascal Savy will explore the interaction between sound, body and physical space with a new composition at the intersection of drone, ambient and noise music, investigating the possibilities of experiencing sound where the body can act as an extended listening device triggered by the resonant properties of the room. Ultimately his performance will seek to question why sound more than other experiential modes of investigation can reveal something fundamental about the ephemeral nature of reality.

Flying Disks is a sonic collaboration between artists, Merkaba MacabreHems and Christian Duka. Their performances traverse the fields of sonic meditation and electroacoustic improvisation, combining microphone techniques with live sampling and spatialisation of gongs and other idiophones. Live instrumentation by Merkaba Macabre and Hems is processed, layered and moved across space by Duka to create an evolving, three-dimensional sonic sculpture in interplay with the acoustics of the room.
