Theremin A Capella (TAC) has found a new home in London @Iklectik

Do you have Theremin at home ?  Bring it together to explore the potential of your magic hands with the Theremin and also play together with each other in the group.

Now you can learn Theremin skill or develop an existing one at the same time improving self-esteem and build confidence in playing solo and group.

TAC not only is a great way of meeting new people and building community but also to inspire each other.

PS: Theremin A Capella plans to have a four week course in the future including a showcase performance on the 4th week of the course

 

NG CHOR GUAN

Thereminist/ Artist / Composer/ Creator/ Improvisor / Artistic Director of Toccata Studio

Ng Chor Guan is co-founder of Toccata Studio, renowned Malaysian composer, sound designer, active thereminist, improviser, educator, and cyclist. A familiar face in international arts festivals across the globe, Guan is a prolific artist whose diverse body of work is rooted in the contemporaneous currents of technology and proves to transcend categories in the performing arts.

An internationally-acclaimed composer and artist, Guan’s work has won him scholarships, residencies and awards across the continents: in 2009, a Grand Prize in the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival for film music and again in the Art Film Fest in Slovakia (2010). A notable scholarship Guan has received is the Goethe Institut Scholarship to Bonn, Germany, in which he cycled from London to Bonn in the winter of 2011. Guan has participated as composer and musician in the programs Berlinale Talents (2015) and OneBeat, an initiative by the federal government of the United States. He has worked as musical director with DanceNorth Australia in their 30th anniversary production, Twilight, a winning project of the Australian Dance Awards. His experiences in improvisation also led him to improv sessions with the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, the Tanztheater Trier, the Folkwang Tanztheater and many more solo dancers . In the last quarter of of 2016, he was selected by the Austrian Ministry of Culture to participate in a residency program of 3 months in Vienna, and has had the privilege to guest lecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

His most recent project with Toccata Studio, titled ‘2020’, is a project five years long: a multidisciplinary performance powered by the concepts of multiple futures and time travel, 2020 is both a meditation on the future and an active progression into the future. In 2016, 2020 expands to include roundtable talk sessions in which people from all walks of life come together to discuss change and the future, later participated as non-performers in the stage productions. In 2015, “2020:An Arrival” was created and won “Theatrix Awards”. In 2016, “2020:I’m from 2020” was created, awarded best original music by Boh Cameronian Arts Awards. In 2017, “2020: Futurists Diaries” was created alongside participation of artists, scientists and non-performer of general public on stage. In 2018, “2020:Timescaper” is in creation.

Guan’s work has been performed in more than 60 cities in the world, and continues to build and advocate for a future he believes in via the arts.
