Tuesdays Post : Live Progressive Ambient has hosted over 80 acts since 2012. We feature performers who’s music melds the boundaries of: ambient, progressive rock, university research music (electroacoustic music), minimalism and improvisation and have produced a large body of footage from our events, available to view on Youtube. Now in season 4 we are hosting ambisonic (surround-sound) concerts at Iklectik, the most exciting venues in London for spatial music.
The event programmes 4 performances, all delivering immersive, original, dynamic ambisonic musical experiences in the unique space that is IKLECTIK.
Simon Fisher Turner
Composing music that both embraces and challenges western classical traditions, Gabriel Prokofiev has emerged as a significant voice in new approaches to classical music at the beginning of the 21st century. After completing his musical studies at Birmingham and York Universities, and dissatisfied with the seemingly insular world of contemporary classical music, he developed a parallel music career as a dance, grime, electro and hip-hop producer. This background in dance music combined with his classical roots gives his music a unique and truly contemporary sound. Gabriel is also an events curator, producer and founder of the Nonclassical record label, and in 2022 he founded the new deep-listening electronic label: Oscillations.
Simon Fisher Turner
With a career as varied and diverse as his current projects, Simon Fisher Turner is renowned for his film soundtrack work which began in collaboration with Derek Jarman, for whom he scored many feature films – from Caravaggio, through to Jarman’s final work Blue. Live performances have seen him appear live at the ICA with Factory Floor, at the Roundhouse with Ashley Paul and Nik Colk Void, and as part of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Tomoyasu Hirano’s Kizuna project in Japan, Simon collaborates with Klara Lewis and Rainier Lericolais. He makes bi/monthly sonic explorations as Guerrilla Audio, thru touch every month. His most recent release was a cassette for the Japanese label Calax. Last month he scored a new short film by Cam Archer. This May he is composer for BLUE NOW, touring the UK. This is sold out. A new LP has just been completed for Mute Records. The future is open.
KOGG is an experimental electronic music duo which is a fusion of the musical influences of Selena Kay and Cerys Hogg. KOGG’s approach incorporates composed, generative and improvised elements with a sonic palette derived from real and homemade instruments, field recordings, and manipulated vocals. In 2022 they were commissioned to create a new work for the Aldeburgh Festival which they performed with the Ligeti Quartet and in January 2023 they were runners up in Nonclassical Battle of the Bands. They have an EP available on Bandcamp, and will be releasing an album later this year.
