Art Terry is a London based singer/songwriter. He was born and raised in Los Angeles California where he studied music with teachers from the African American folk and classical disciplines.

He began working with the musician Stew in 1976 in Los Angeles. They lived and performed together in Europe for 2 years from which the Tony award winning play and Spike Lee film Passing Strange is partly inspired.

For 10 years he has hosted the weekly radio show Is Black Music on the award winning London radio station Resonance FM, which is an alternative Black music show featuring Black folk, country, and avant-garde classical music.

Art Terry and JT Taylor have began working together since April 2013 as a piano percussion duet. Often augmenting their instrumentation with other musicians. They explore and utilise classic song structures by mixing and pushing different contributing genres and aesthetics. This includes avant garde forms of jazz, and classical as well as folk forms of musical theatre and gospel-blues.

Valentine’s Night was formed on Valentine’s night this year for Resonance FM’s annual fundraising event at IKLECTIK. They played a cover that evening, but the open, loved up vibe inspired bassist-songwriter Philip A. Rojas to pen original material that draws on soul, funk, rock and jazz without falling into any genre per se. Featuring the unique lead vocalist Segun, Art Terry and J.T Taylor, Valentine’s Night tell lived in stories through words and music plugged in to many different sources.
