“urbanrecall” is a collaborative project by Ali Chakav, Joel Jaffe and Navid Razavi.
It is a reflection on the phenomena of an urban vivid environment, its flow and chaos of information, which respectively affect the shapes of its architecture and our lives.
It questions the methods of transformations of the urban environment and how we perceive it as individuals or collectives. Analog to this question we create concepts, collect sonic, visual and forensic material of this very environment and transform these in serial transmedial/intermedial and site-specific performances.

Ali Chakav
Ali Chakav is an interdisciplinary media artist and sound performer, born in Tehran 1984, living in Cologne and London. He initially studied visual art at the AZAD University in Iran, then he graduated his Diploma with a focus on sound and urban auditory culture at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne-Germany.
His works concentrate on artistic investigations into the echoic collective memory in indistinguishable layers in the environment.
Over the past years, he presented his works in solo and group form, at various galleries, museums, concert spaces and festivals, including Schnütchen Museum Köln, Kunstmuseum Celle, Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl, PACT Zollverein in Essen, Kunstquartier Bethanien in Berlin, Open Source Festival in Düsseldorf, Landesvertretung NRW at the European Union in Brussels, European Media Art Festival in Osnabrück and Galerie Royal in München.
Joel Jaffe
Joel Jaffe is a cologne based sound artist and music producer. He works in the field of performance, installation and audio production. In the past he was on tour with different Bands like Burnpilot, Arcane Allies, Daikaiju and wyst in Europa and USA. Since October 2014 Joel Jaffe studies at Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, where he deals with sound synthesis, experimental composition, improvisation, chaotic systems and multi-channel sound installation.
In the past years, Joel Jaffe developed different film music scripts e.g. Damian Webers „Piramida Sunca“, Sergiu Zorgers “Into The Night” and Malin Schmidts “Reminiscencia”. In the field of performance, several collaborative projects evolved throughout the years that interdisciplinary incorporate music&sound art, contemporary dance, video synthesis and installation art.

Navid Razavi
Navid Razavi is an interdisciplinary media artist. Through his work in the field of filmmaking, various collaborations and exhibitions he has started to critically reflect on concepts of narration, working with experimental approaches of photography, sound, video and audiovisual performances.
He strives to deconstruct metanarrative structures to further synthesize these in inter- and transmedia forms.
