‘Concerning Violence’, looks at the struggle for independence in Africa in the 1960s and 70s, through the lens of Franz Fanon’s seminal 1961 book ‘The Wretched of the Earth’. The book analyses the dehumanising nature effects of colonization on the individual and the nation and more than 50 years on, it still serves as an important tool in understanding colonisation, violence and the reactions to. Rich with archive footage, the film addresses the issue in an uncompromising and explicit way.
