Third Space

Third Space is the musical project of Melbourne-based experimental artist and performer Matt Sabbadini. His work presents a convergence of electro-acoustics and drone, underpinned by tonal, pulse-based percussion, where polyrhythms and deceptive time signatures are linked together with sine tones. Performing live, Third Space balances hesitancy and tension, flexing and bending within a sub-heavy framework, complemented by warped and mangled field recordings. The physicality of sound here is expressed, questioned, and reinterpreted.

Julia Set

Julia Set is an audiovisual duo, co-curated by Lewis Wolstanholme and Francis Devine, who specialise in crossmodal, experimental and improvisatory performance practices. Lewis is multidisciplinary artist currently working as a PhD researcher in artificial intelligence and music as part of the Augmented Instruments Lab. Francis is an multidisciplinary artist and musician who specialises in contemporary piano performance and experimental composition. Together, they have curated a number of site-specific and immersive performances, released several of their interdisciplinary projects online, as well as having presented their work at various academic conferences.

Rastegah is a computer music researcher and sound creator working with rhythm, time and texture. He experiments with neural networks and auditory sound representations for machine listening and texture synthesis.

Kaiyumi is a sound artist working with modular synthesis, based in London and Shanghai.
