SODAA is an open and non-hierarchical collective, drawn from the experimental music and arts ecosystem, founded on principles of decentralised governance and solidarity economy; SODAA’s main aim is to develop a model for a community-operated venue in London. For the collective’s first “SODAA Mixer”, we have invited Emma Warren and Rebecca Salvadori to speak about documentation in experimental music and grassroots movements. The talk will be moderated by Anjali Prashar-Savoie, and SODAA DJs will play throughout the night with open decks. The SODAA Mixer is a regular hangout event, where collective members and invited speakers can meet-up, listen, chat and perform. This time, exploring how documentation functions and how these practices might create future models, we’ll talk about today’s cultures, movements, and memes, collective spaces, untold stories and rituals of nightlife, along with techno-participation and online lore. We’ll think about how and why sounds, images, events, artists, and organizations past and present are documented and archived digitally and physically.

Programme

7pm to 8pm: SODAA DJs (open decks)
8pm to 9pm: talk “Documenting subcultures” with Emma Warren & Rebecca Salvadori moderated by Anjali Prashar-Savoie
9pm to 11pm: SODAA DJs (open decks)
