The Great British Brass Band – but not as you know it! Speckles Brass play freely improvised music drawing on a hodgepodge of influences as diverse as the musical interests of its members – poetry, art, dance, new sounds, classical harmony, grungy blues – it’s all in there!
For this gig they will be joined by the incredible vocal talents of Mia Marlen Berg, a rising star of the Norwegian scene who has made her mark with her own band Doffs Poi, as well as founding the all-female vocal improvising ensemble IKI, and more recently becoming a key member of the groundbreaking Trondheim Voices; and saxophonist and flautist Julie Kjær’s edgy and thoughtfull playing and ‘dark, otherworldly imagery’ (Jazzwise), which has become incerasingly evident around Europe, inhabiting ground between composition and free improv.”
