Zhao Jiajing (b. China) is a composer, sound artist, and new media artist. Zhao Jiajing works across multiple disciplines, including spatial sound, new media, performance, and installation. Key themes of his work include time, consciousness, chaos, and surveillance. He approaches sound as spatial-temporal portals leading to many possible worlds. With extensive use of field recordings, sound collage, and granular synthesis techniques, he creates sonic experiences that trigger cross-sensory imaginations. Probabilities and uncertainties are the kernel of his practice. He employs chaotic algorithms and cultivates generative systems for his artistic creations to sprout into unforeseen variations autonomously.
